… let me remind you that time and space are under my control.
Quote from A Course in Miracles, T-2.VII.7:9
I have said that the book, A Course in Miracles, is a first-person communication from our Creator Son, who is now, since his bestowal of himself as a mortal on our world, the Sovereign Master Son of his universe. Our Creator Son, whom I affectionately address as Michael, is also, since this last bestowal, the Planetary Prince of Urantia.
Michael’s universe is Nebadon, a local universe, and will have 10 million inhabited worlds. According to The URANTIA Book, “At the last registry there were 3,840,101 inhabited planets in Nebadon” (0359:06), which is “one of the newer creations in Orvonton, the seventh superuniverse” (0129:10), and near the “present ragged edge of the grand universe, its uneven and unfinished periphery” (0129:11).
Michael has a spirit consort, our Creative Spirit, and these two are cocreators of this universe. This means that the air we breathe, the ground under our feet, this world, all the plant and animal life thereon, including the bodies that we mortal ascenders use, all this is the handiwork of our Creator Son and his Creative Spirit. Our Creator Son and Creative Spirit did not create us, as spirits—as spirits, we are creations of the Universal Father—but they did literally create this universe of our nativity.
You might expect that a first-person communication from the Sovereign of our universe would draw attention to that fact. Our leaders of church and state often are seen to call attention to their importance by dress and ceremony, by their insistence that their position commands respect. This is not at all true of our Michael of Nebadon. Throughout his communication there is a complete lack of ego. Somehow, he is able to let drop such astonishments as “… let me remind you that time and space are under my control” (the quote introducing this essay), without arousing ego resistance in his reader.
You can read extensively and never suspect you are hearing from the Sovereign of our universe, except for the fact that every statement he makes is absolute and final. There is never a hint of uncertainty about anything.
The first person is always there, but without obtrusion. Let us look at how he begins. In the Text, at the beginning of Chapter 1, Michael introduces 50 “Principles of Miracles.” The first reference to a first person comes in principle 27 (bolding added for emphasis): “A miracle is a universal blessing from God through me to all my brothers” (T-1.I.27:1). Further on, principle 32: “I inspire all miracles, which are really intercessions” (T-1.I.32:1). From principle 37: “A miracle is a correction introduced into false thinking by me” (T-1.I.37:1). Finally, principle 40: “The miracle acknowledges everyone as your brother and mine” (T-1.I.40:1).
We see Michael has placed himself between us and the Universal Father, and that he inspires all miracles, not just some. He acknowledges everyone as his “brother”—the use of the masculine noun here is a convenience of the English language and does not exclude the female half of our species. Please ladies, take no offense.
We are personalities who can know other persons. Our Creator Son and his Creative Spirit, both of whom are persons we can know, created this universe. Now Michael affirms that, as our Sovereign, time and space are under his control. Which must mean, literally, that everything is a miracle—that every happening that takes place, now and forever, is a miracle; a panorama written in time and space of the stupendous never-ending beneficence of the Universal Father, overseen utmost lovingly by His Son Michael, who is so intimate, so one with our mind, he can introduce corrections into how we think. His Son will teach us to think with the Universal Father. If only we will pause to listen, and we will.
The stress and strife we think we see in this world is an illusion, born of lack of faith. Everything here is by our decision, not some cruel imposition. The salvation of this world will be our doing, with our ever-present Companion Michael abiding in our mind. For certain he does, and we will.
