Adam and Eve fell asleep on Jerusem [headquarters world of our system], and when they awakened in the Father’s temple on Urantia in the presence of the mighty throng assembled to welcome them, they were face to face with two beings of whom they had heard much, Van and his faithful associate Amadon. These two heroes of the Caligastia secession were the first to welcome them in their new garden home.
Quote from The URANTIA Book, 0829:03
For seven crucial years, in addition to the Caligastia one hundred and the one hundred Andonite contributors, every celestial personality ensnared in the Lucifer rebellion confronted the eternal choice before the authority of the Heavens was reestablished on Urantia. “But at last the final decision of the last personality was made, and then, but only then, did a Most High of Edentia arrive with the emergency Melchizedeks to seize authority on Urantia” (0757:03).
“The Melchizedeks are widely known as emergency Sons, for they engage in an amazing range of activities on the worlds of a local universe” (1014:01). It was only 4,000 years ago, in the time of Abraham, that one of the emergency receivers, Machiventa Melchizedek, of his own volition personalized as a man of the realm for a period of 94 years as the third revelation to our world.
“Immediately upon the arrival of the Melchizedek receivers the loyal personalities (except Van) were returned to Jerusem and were reunited with their waiting Adjusters” (0758:03). Van and Amadon kept possession of the tree of life and withdrew with their followers to the highlands west of India. Special mention is made of “the group of 144 loyal Andonites to which Amadon belonged, and who have become known by his name. This group comprised thirty-nine men and one hundred and five women. Fifty-six of this number were of immortality status [the loyalists among the one hundred Andonite contributors], and all (except Amadon) were translated along with the loyal members of the staff. The remainder of this noble band continued on earth to the end of their mortal days under the leadership of Van and Amadon. They were the biologic leaven which multiplied and continued to furnish leadership for the world down through the long dark ages of the postrebellion era” (0759:06).
The sixty rebels of the Caligastia one hundred chose Nod as their leader, migrated to the north and east of the city of the Prince, and long dwelled in the “land of Nod, east of Eden” (Genesis 4:16). Some of them would eventually join with Van and his followers: “These were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown” (Genesis 6:4, Revised Standard Version, 1953).
Of the lower ranks of the angelic orders, all those ensnared in the rebellion were still free to foment mischief wherever possible, as were 40,119 primary midwayers (out of the original total of 50,000) who joined with Caligastia. But even at the time of the rebellion, all of these celestials, including Caligastia and Daligastia, were completely subservient to the majesty of will at the command of normal-minded mortals. Our will reigned supreme then, as it does now.
Sustained by the tree of life, Van and Amadon kept the faith for over an additional 150,000 years. In the ripeness of time they were inspired to prepare a garden home for the promised arrival of the immortals, Adam and Eve, our second revelation. This garden home was established on an easily defensible peninsula of land, protruding westward from the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea: the first Garden of Eden, watered by a great river with “four tributaries” (0823:04).
Here there is a confusion of legends: the last of these rivers was not the Euphrates of Genesis 2:14, which as it flows through the heart of Mesopotamia would nourish the second garden of Eden, wrested from unprepared ground by the love and labor of Adam and Eve.
