A being of my order is able to discover ultimate harmony and to detect far-reaching and profound co-ordination in the routine affairs of universe administration. Much that seems disjointed and haphazard to the mortal mind appears orderly and constructive to my understanding. But there is very much going on in the universes that I do not fully comprehend. …
Quote from The URANTIA Book, 0055:05-06
I am entirely competent to trace out and to analyze the working of all phenomena directly resulting from the functioning of the Universal Father, the Eternal Son, the Infinite Spirit, and, to a large extent, the Isle of Paradise. My perplexity is occasioned by encountering what appears to be the performance of their mysterious co-ordinates, the three Absolutes of potentiality. These Absolutes seem to supersede matter, to transcend mind, and to supervene spirit. I am constantly confused and often perplexed by my inability to comprehend these complex transactions which I attribute to the presences and performances of the Unqualified Absolute, the Deity Absolute, and the Universal Absolute.
Before we consider this statement by a Divine Counselor, I should introduce “God the Supreme” from the last essay. In this universe age, the existential Trinity “—the eternal Deity union of the Universal Father, the Eternal Son, and the Infinite Spirit—” (0015:08) is engaged in ushering the universes of time and space into perfection. The Paradise Trinity “—is existential in actuality, but all potentials are experiential” (0015:08). Our experience explores the potentials of infinity.
All that is a real mouthful, I know. God the Supreme is “—the actualizing or evolving God of time and space” (0004:09), the first experiential God. At the end of this universe age, when the universes of time and space are settled in perfection, God the Supreme will fully actualize—as a person. As I say, a lot to swallow. But really it is simple: When we think of God Almighty, in the sense of acting in time, we are thinking of God the Supreme. This is the age of God the Supreme.
The Divine Counselor above, who is perplexed by the “three Absolutes of potentiality” (as we all are), was “assigned to the presentation of the revelation of the Universal Father” (0053:07). This Divine Counselor assures us: “Many times have I enjoyed the supreme pleasure of a sojourn in the immediate personal presence of the Universal Father. I portray the reality and truth of the Father’s nature and attributes with unchallengeable authority; I know whereof I speak” (0032:01). You have my attention!
But contrast with Michael of Nebadon, this statement from our Divine Counselor: “There is also an organic unity in the universes of time and space which seems to underlie the whole fabric of cosmic events” (0056:02, italics added). For our Michael, nothing “seems.” Time and space are merely beliefs.
I cannot imagine Michael of Nebadon being “constantly confused and often perplexed” by anything. Anything needful to know, Michael knows, directly from the Universal Father, with no need to ask. There is no question of an “inability to comprehend.” Michael knows—we need not question further. Michael is a straight conduit to the Universal Father.
Allow me a comment about the use of word symbol “God” and the Universal Father. I have honored the use of “God” in quoted material. The use of “the Universal Father” is intended to be inclusive of all people and cultures. It is important to experience our Oneness.
