When they learned what had happened to Eve, the infuriated inhabitants of the Garden became unmanageable; they declared war on the near-by Nodite settlement. They swept out through the gates of Eden and down upon these unprepared people, utterly destroying them—not a man, woman, or child was spared. And Cano, the father of Cain yet unborn, also perished.
Quote from The URANTIA Book, 0843:05
Adam knew that he and Eve had failed; the presence of the Melchizedek receivers told him that, though he still knew nothing of their personal status or future fate. He held an all-night conference with some twelve hundred loyal followers who pledged themselves to follow their leader, and the next day at noon these pilgrims went forth from Eden in quest of new homes. Adam had no liking for war and accordingly elected to leave the first garden to the Nodites unopposed.
Quote from The URANTIA Book, 0844:04
The children of Adam and Eve were corporeal beings when they were taken from our world to become wards of the Heavens, and they will return here likewise, as physical beings with whom we may commune, our vision is so limited. And some of the adults, at least, will be over eight feet tall, and of grace and physical beauty beyond the powers of describing, just as they must have been on their first sojourn on our world. An aspect of divinity presenting itself, Adam and Eve were difficult to ignore. And even though mortal, their children would not be far removed.
Adam and Eve vacated the first Garden of Eden out of concern for their physical safety. If their children were suddenly to appear here on our world again, now in the 21st century, the matter of their physical security would seem of paramount concern. Being mortal, just like us they would not possess physically indestructible bodies.
Would they be in physical danger? It would seem there is sympathy for Lucifer, who asserted himself apart from the Love of the Universal Father, but this is not so. The Lucifer rebellion is now being adjudicated by the Ancients of Days. As the Universal Father sees us—on the level of our spirit—there is no sympathy here for Lucifer. We will exercise all care, every diligence, with faith in humankind to recognize the new era of Unity and Light unfolding. We expect the children of Adam and Eve will return here as safe as if in the Hands of the Universal Father.
Still many of us project our fear outward, afraid of what we would find within. But within do we find only our Thought Adjuster: an absolute fragment of the Universal Father, Who is Love, Who steadfastly wills only our happiness. Our fear is but delusion. Our Adjuster is prepersonal, always subject to our will, and is no cause for fear. “Mind is your ship, the Adjuster is your pilot, the human will is captain” (1217:04). Our “best instincts” will not lead us astray.
When first rematerialized on our world, Adam and Eve “awakened in the Father’s temple on Urantia in the presence of the mighty throng assembled to welcome them” (0829:03). If the children of Adam and Eve are due to return, I am sure we will in profound gratitude prepare a joyous welcome!
